Ok I know we are far from spring at the moment and probably all missing the warm weather and pretty florals but I am desperately trying to catch up on blogging old posts! It seems to be a New Years resolution every year. One of these years I vow it will last longer than a month or two.
I met Lesley and Peter 7 years ago at a friends wedding in Mexico. As you can see they are a super fun and goofy couple. I love tat they completely let loose throughout the session. Their wedding was in the Dominican, at the end of 2018 (yes I'm that far behind), and it was an amazing trip! Stay tuned for the blog about their wedding!
Here we are in October already. Where has this year gone?? I feel as I get older, time goes by faster. Does anyone else feel this way? Earlier this year myself, my husband, my boys, and 20 of our friends and family went to Anaheim for our 10 year vow renewal. It was everything we could have asked for and more!
It was probably a few years ago that we started talking about doing a vow renewal for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Our original wedding was very small, we were young, and we have often felt that we spent the day thinking about it as a small party, a chance to celebrate with friends. We now feel that we didn't really spent the day focusing on what it was really about, us coming together as life partners. Plus, in 10 years a marriage can go through a lot, especially when it starts when you are young. We are so proud that we've made it through the ups and downs of life stronger than when we first got together.
Another 2017 wedding! Yes, I know we are almost 2 months into 2019 but I still feel to share so many of my favourite weddings that I haven't yet shared.
When I was busy photographing Steve and Chaeleen's engagement party I had someone come up to me and said that he thought we had gone to school together. Although we didn't hang out in high school, I immediately recognized him as well. Plus it turned out that him and his fiance were on the hunt for a wedding photographer. What perfect timing for us to run into each other!
Their wedding took place on a chilly November afternoon at Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver. They celebrated with family, friends, and their adorable daughters. Both Chelsea and Jason have such fun personalities. I love Chelsea's goofiness. She is rarely taking anything too seriously and just enjoys every life moment, and Jason seems serious on the outside but is just as vibrant on the inside. I love that he couldn't keep his hands...
Well it was almost exactly a year ago when I got the email form the lovely ladies at I Like Her Style Vancouver (www.ilikeherstylevancouver.com) asking if I would be interested in working with them and shooting the next two covers of their issues. To say I was excited would be an understatement! I had been following their magazine for quite some time and just loved their support and empowerment of women.
The first cover shoot was with the amazing Aly Armstrong of Aly Armstrong events (www.alyarmstrong.co). We spent the day taking shots of Aly in her beautiful home. It was so fun getting to know them all so much better, and building lasting relationships.
Since this shoot I have worked with I Like Her Style on countless occasions and have had the honour of being in their magazine in every issue since last April.
I can't believe this was almost two years ago! Just goes to show you how behind I am on blogging!
This was Mexico wedding number two for 2017. This time we headed to the west side, to Peurto Vallarta. Unfortunately Adam couldn't get time off work again so soon after our other trip to mexico and so I brought my mom along to keep me company :)
Chris and Meredyth (aka Redz). Ah, I cannot say enough amazing things about them. They found me through their friends, Dan and Janine (or Jan and Danine as i constantly accidentally call them!!) I had done Dan and Janine's wedding in Vernon about four years ago. Chris and Meredyth were there as guests, and I guess as soon as they saw the photos, they decided they wanted to hire me for their big day! From the first time I met them for coffee, I came home and told Adam, I HAVE to photograph their wedding!! They were the kind of people that I clicked with IMMEDIATELY. I just felt such an amazing vibe fro...
I spent New Years Eve 2018 ringing in the new year with Adam, an awesome couple, and hundreds of their friends and family. It definitely beat our usual New Years Eve of desperately trying to stay awake past midnight. Man I feel old as I write that!
Chaeleen has been friends with a mutual friend of ours since they were teenagers. Chaeleen did some photography here and there before she met Steve, and years ago, when I first started photography, she had asked me to second shoot with her. It was one of the first weddings I attended as a photographer and I remember having so much fun.
Chaeleen and Steve's stunning wedding took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver. Paradise Events did an amazing job.
Chaeleen was just stunning on their big day. Her dress was by my absolute favourite dress designer, Hayley Paige and I loved her shoes so much that I went and bought myself the same pair the following day!!
When I met with Melanie and she said that her and Paul wanted to do a helicopter engagement shoot, I was so excited. Ever since my first flight and shoot with Compass Heli Tours in 2017 I have been hooked! This time we went with Blackcomb Helicopters and it was especially exciting because Adam (my husband) came as well and did video.
I loved that this was both Melanie and Paul's first time in a helicopter. It was so cool to experience it with them. You could just see the awe and excitement in both of their faces!
We flew to the top of the mountain and it was definitely chilly. I was bundled up in layers of clothes, a winter jacket and boots, but Melanie was a trooper and braved the freezing cold weather in just a dress!
I can't wait to shoot this lovely couple's Squamish wedding next summer!!
On a side note, Adam has always been interested in videography and I have been telling him for YEARS that he should buy the gear and start working...
Well 2018 was definitely a year to remember! It was by far my most successful year for my business. I met some of the most amazing people, had some awesome adventures, and achieved some great business goals!
I had the opportunity to meet and work with so many fellow business women. A couple women I spent a number of hours with in 2018 were Jody and Kyla from the wonderful I like Her Style Vancouver magazine (www.ilikeherstylevancouver.com). In February they asked me to shoot the cover and a number of other articles for the magazine. I had the honour of shooting many fellow women and businesses with them, including Aly Armstrong from Events by Aly, Nira Arora from 94.5 Virgin Radio, Mel and Nikki from Free Reign, Karlene Karst, Mark and Carly from White Table Catering, Jamie from Styling the Inside, and Monty from Blush Bridal.
Jasmine Hoffman (www.jasminehoffman.com) and I made some amazing memories together. From bridal styled shoots, to tulip pranc...
Finally!!! It's my Disneyland blog! I have had a lot of people asking when I'm going to write it. I've made them wait way too long!! I can't believe it's already been three months since we went. I miss it already! Good thing our next trip is in the works. Haha, we get asked all of the time why we don't go anywhere else. My answer is always the same. We have gone to other places: Mexico and Vegas numerous times, and we always have a great time, but in the end Disneyland is just our favourite place to go! I completely understand why people don't get it. They tend to think it's all about the rides. But for us it's really not. I mean, of course we enjoy the rides, but we love so much more. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love love LOVE that it's a place that you can just completely let go and be a kid. I love getting to wear Minnie ears everyday, love eating ice cream and treats everyday, and love walking down Main Street and feeling the joy and excitement resonating...
