Oh man, do I ever miss weddings! Melanie and Paul were married in Squamish last summer and it was the perfect day! I'm not usually a huge forest kind of person but this location was BEAUTIFUL. What a cool spot for them to say their vows, and I loved that we went up the Sea to Sky gondola for the first look.
Melanie and Paul were so easy going and relaxed on their big day. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a calmer bride. Melanie was just taking it all in and enjoying the day. They were married in the middle of a forest, which was perfectly suiting for their personalities. I loved the intimate feel of it. It truly felt like we were the only people in the world for the time being.
When the couple made their entrance into the reception, they surprised their guests with a choreographed dance, and when Melanie and her dad did their dance together, they also had a practiced routine.
This family has one of the coolest stories I think I've ever heard. I met Skye and Dwayne years ago, before there first child, through our good friends. They were high school sweethearts and had been married for a few years when we met. They had been trying to get pregnant with no luck. They had moved on to the process of adopting and after much time and heartache, came home with little their little boy, Sawyer.
Not too long afterward, by a complete miracle, Skye found out she was pregnant! I was lucky enough to do their maternity photos and Skye was just glowing. They had an adorable little girl, Georgia, who surprisingly looked just like her big brother!
Some time later Skye and Dwayne decided to adopt another baby. They headed to Japan and stayed for months and came home with little Noa. We did these family photos to celebrate their new family of 5. It was very soon afterward that Skye made the surprising announcement that she was...
Another city engagement shoot!! I'm definitely a city girl. I always get excited when clients want something other than greenery.
One of my favourite things is when clients involve me when planning. Whether that be asking opinions on certain colours, helping with sorting out the schedule of the wedding day, or of course getting advice on shoes. Since Cierra and Devon booked with me, I have had consistent contact with Cierra. From chatting about wedding details, to just everyday life. I love that we have gotten so close leading up to their big day. Before the engagement session I had numerous messages from Cierra asking about wardrobe ideas. I loved the way everything came together.
Cierra and Devon were supposed to get married in June but it has been pushed back to the fall with the hopes of being able to move forward. Whenever it may be, I can't wait!
You can't go wrong with engagement photos in a beautiful field of tulips! I met Janelle while working with the I Like Her Style Vancouver team. She was a model for a bridal styled shoot we did. She made a STUNNING "bride" then and I know she will be a stunning bride on her actual wedding day!
Janelle and Linden met 7 years ago at Royal Roads University in Victoria while he was studying Business Commerce and she was studying Communications. They moved to Vancouver together shortly after and have spent their time They got engaged two years ago at Johnson's Canyon in Banff.
After being engaged for two years, Janelle and Linden have recently started planning their wedding. The piece of advice she recently shared about wedding planning is, "At the end of the day, no one really cares what your wedding is like. Stop thinking about everyone's opinions. They'll forget about it in just a few weeks, so just do what is authentic to you." I couldn't agr...
I know I say it often but this couple was one of the sweetest couples! I think I'm just lucky and get really amazing clients!
Tommy and Thai will be tying the knot later this year in a destination wedding. Their engagement session was so easy. They were so photogenic and fun. I loved that Tommy wanted me to get photos of just Thai, his gorgeous soon to be bride. She rocked the camera!
Just a week before their wedding, I met with Candice and Andy for their engagement sesison. This was my first time meeting Andy. They were so much fun!! Andy is quite a goofball, sometimes driving Candice a little crazy. I can speak firsthand and say that I know what this is like since Adam is the same, but I wouldn't change it for anything, and I'm sure neither would Candice!
Their adorable dog, Hero (named after Hero from Big Hero 6), joined us in the session. I always love when people bring their fury family members to sessions!
Stay tuned for Candice and Andy's Nita Lake Lodge wedding blog in just a couple weeks!
One of my favourite 2018 weddings! I can't believe it's been over a year! I just love love love this couple.
Leading up to the wedding day my bride, Tammera, earned the name "Donut Bride". This is definitely deserving of an explanation! In order for my husband to know which client I am talking about in our conversations, I often give them nicknames associated with them, since just calling them by their names doesn't work for him. During my chats with Tammera, we discovered that we both had sweet tooths. Leading up to the wedding I would often drop off treats at her house which were often donuts from Cartem's in Vancouver. Hence, "DonutBride." On the day of the wedding I didn't want to break the tradition and so I, of course, brought her a box of treats :)
Their wedding day was filled with love and laughter! It started off a little wet and so the ceremony had to be moved inside but we lucked out and the rain stopped for f...
I have had the pleasure of photographing so many moments in Tanya and Rhian's adventure together. I was so honoured when they asked me to capture their intimate wedding in Tofino.
Personally I had never shot such a small wedding. In attendance for their big day was their four children, one of Tanya's closest friends and her significant other, and myself. I've always known Tanya and Rhian as easy going, calm, loving people. I loved how all of it came out and created the atmosphere for the whole day. I always tell my wedding clients to take in each moment, to take moments to themselves during what is generally a hectic day, to remember the reasons they are getting married that it is about them coming together as a couple. The way Tanya and Rhian did it, I feel that they truly were able to cherish every moment.
The day before the wedding Tanya and Rhian and the kids explored Tofino and found the perfect spot for their vo...
This one is almost a couple years old now but I still wanted to share!
Getting to be apart of someone's proposal is always so exciting. When it's a helicopter ride to the top of a mountain it's even more exciting!
Rushil and Aprita came to Vancouver from Chicago for a vacation. Rushil had it planned all along that he would be proposing on one of their excursions. Nick from Compass Heli Tours helped him plan the day. Myself and Adam joined the couple in the helicopter as fellow "passengers". Almost as soon as we landed, Rushil took Aprita to the side to "take in the view". We stood afar and captured the moment and look of surprise on her face! I love that when he did it she asked if the other passengers knew. She still hadn't realized that we were all there just for her!
We spent the remainder of the time with Compass Heli Tours glacier Kayaking, enjoying a mountaintop lunch, and then venturing to another beautiful, but warmer, location. What a...
This was the first time I had the opportunity to shoot at Swaneset in Pitt Meadows and I loved it just as much as I thought I would! I've always wanted to shoot at Hatley Castle in Victoria because of the amazing castle feel and Swaneset reminds me of a small version of it. Plus there are so many amazing spots on the property for photos.
When I first met Kassandra, we met for lunch at my favourite restaurant, Cactus Club. It was so great to spend the time getting to know her. It was like being out for lunch with an old friend!
On the day of the wedding everything went so smoothly. They are the most easy going couple. You could tell that they were just happy with being together and coming together as a couple. It was a BEAUTIFUL! I love love love the grand windows of Swaneset and the architecture of the building! Kassandra's dress was just stunning and I loved the classic tux for Joshua. My favourite part of the day was definitely Josh seeing Kassandra wa...
